We were told yesterday by the doctors that if Emma's bloods were OK we would be allowed home for the weekend. Neither of us could quite believe it so didn't dare blog and risk jinxing it last night! But hey ho, with a creatinine level of 38 (Pre-transplant it was 650) they were very happy to send us on our way back to Oakley!! We had the most fantastic driver home (we would get the train but the doctors won't let us till 6 weeks post-op for fear of infection), Al nearly fainted when we turned up in a brand new Jaguar! We then walked up to the school to meet a very surprised Meggie and Greg. It was also lovely to see so many equally surprised school staff and parents! As you can see in the picture we were soon joined by Nanny, Grandad, Coz, David and Georgia and we enjoyed a very healthy fish and chip tea!!
We were so excited about finally meeting our new Nephew/Cousin but poor Albie and his Daddy have a cold (Anna you have my deepest sympathy!!) We have to be particularly careful to avoid coughs and colds as Emma's immune system is so weak. Hopefully we will see Albie next weekend. Was lovely to hear down the phone that he has a good set of lungs anyway!!
So if all goes to plan we will be here till Sunday at 4pm when we will be driven back to GOSH. Emma then has bloods Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We will once again stay in the patient hotel as neither of us can face the drive every other day.
Thanks yet again for all your lovely comments. Its so encouraging to hear them. Its great to hear how many people read the blog. Friends of friends of friends- you are all welcome!!
Love from us all here in Oakley-Yippee!!!!
