Well what an unexpected day!! We got to clinic this morning at 10 and were told we could go home after seeing the doctor and come back on Thursday. Emma's bloods have, thank goodness, been very stable so they were happy to see her twice a week. When we first went in to GOSH back on the 14th December I kept being asked when we thought we would be out and I honestly could not answer as it all depended on so many things. We are so thankful that she has kept well and so hope and pray that this continues....So off we tootled to our lovely flat and wondered how on earth I would get everything packed and carried down to the patient transport desk by 1pm! I am not allowed to lift, pull, reach- blah, blah, for around 3 months so decided it would be an impossible task. We had accumulated rather a lot of stuff over 4 weeks, especially as Father Christmas had visited in the middle of it! So once again we called on Al to come and get us instead! (it was his first proper day back and he only lasted till 12!)- Thank you Life Plus once again!
Before we left we popped over to Victoria ward to say goodbye for now. The nurses there have been wonderful. They really are the best and continue to be a support to us all. We also saw Jane the play specialist (Meggie wants to be Jane when she grows up!!) Jane has helped Emma to understand so much of what she is going through. She has been amazing to all my 3 in fact.
As you can see in the photo the car was very full! We eventually got home at about 6pm (Via Brent Cross shopping centre-hee hee!) to a lovely welcome from Meggie and Greg.
And now I am sitting here wondering what to do about the blog.... I have become a bit attached to writing it in fact! Well tomorrow I will post another video of my beautiful children, but this time with sound..... and then I will see. I think I will keep writing it as I know this is only the start of our new journey- living with a kidney transplant. There are going to be up's but I know there could still be downs. We will still be in and out of GOSH as they will check out infections, coughs, temperatures- everything. They are so thorough in everything they do- and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Love to you all
Katy

At the risk of repeating what has already been said: GREAT NEWS!! Lovely for you all to be sharing family time without all the travelling, and especially great that it means GOSH are happy with Emmas progress so far. It was nice to see you all "in the flesh" so to speak on Friday and to see that you do both look as good as you have done in the pics! Was wondering if you had maybe done some airbrushing but no, clearly you really DO look that good!! Can't believe that things have moved on so much since the 15th, what a really promising, inspiring start to 2010.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to catching up in the coming weeks, Jess would love to pop in to see Emma at a suitable time just to say Hi, but maybe not just yet as am sure you still have lots of family and close pals who are keen to see you. Hi Emma
ReplyDeleteJust looked at your recent blogs again and wonder when you are going to bring out your own line of "Dialysis Dolly".Think about it you could have all of the additional extras like catheters and wee bags and tubes, let alone all the dressing up outfits for nurses and dollies. Would be interested in seeing your full range.
Likewise Beeden Mommy us older ones remember a radio programme called "Mrs Dales Diary" a story about a doctors wife. So look on you future blogs as an every day story of post kidney transplanters and recipients.
And an update on the frozen south. Just around us is strawberry and citrus land where they have been spraying crops with water all night every night to prevent frost damage. As a direct consiquence of that there have been at least 10 sink holes appeared, taking houses and 2 main highways with them. Makes sleeping at night difficult but as i said before we are abandoning Florida for Arazona.
Enjoy being all back together again
Love Sue and David
